How Administrators Can Control The Conversation

The RumbleTalk group chat has a plethora of options and features. We are evolving as the platform grows, and we are always striving to make the platform more user-friendly. Our group chat platform features offer a high level of functionality that is matched by their ease of use. Here are the top features that administrators can use to control the conversation.

Getting rid of chat messages

What do administrators do in a group chat? It’s moderating the conversation.

Would you appreciate it if someone harassed your members or created scenes like this? Obviously not. This is all your hard work, and you would never tolerate such behavior in your chat rooms. With situations like this in mind, we’ve made message deletion a quick and easy process.

Simply click the trash can icon next to the messages to delete them. Group and private chat rooms have this icon.

Select the gear icon at the bottom of the sidebar to clear the entire community chat message cache history (for all users). This will display your available chat options. You’ll see the Clear chat messages button from here. Delete all chat messages with a click. Keep in mind that you will only see this option if you are logged in as an administrator.

View the IP address of a user

Another aspect of your role as an administrator will be to delete other people’s messages in the community chat room. When a user engages in serious behavior that has the potential to disrupt your chat, you must take extra precautions. These actions can include harassing other members, requesting excessive personal information, and more. This additional safeguard is found in the ability to view a user’s IP address.

An IP address identifies and distinguishes a computer from all other computers on the internet. Knowing the IP address of the predator or troll who is attempting to infiltrate your chat is the first step toward taking preventative action against such offenders.

Members of the chat community came to the chat room with one goal in mind: to chat with others and communicate peacefully.

If a user simply wants to cause a riot or a problem in the chat room, you can easily ban that user.

How do administrators ban a user in a chat room?

To begin, in the sidebar, click on the profile of the user you want to ban/disconnect. This will launch a private chat panel with that user, complete with messaging and moderation features.

If the user continues to engage in such misbehavior in the chat, you could issue a warning. You could also disconnect the user. This temporarily removes him/her from the chat. Both of these are effective strategies.

If they ignore these warnings and continue to violate the rules, you have the option of blocking their IP address. This removes the user from the chat and permanently bans him or her from the chat room. Any action taken from the same IP address will be prohibited.

admins

With over 10,000 bans in large community chats, banning a user based on their IP address is one of the most notable chat features across all RumbleTalk chat rooms. It is a powerful tool for combating internet abuse and cyberbullying. It also keeps your chat room free of spam.

You can unban an IP address if you want to. Manually add or delete previously banned IPs by going to your chat settings and scrolling down to banned IPs.

Moderation of group chats

Administrators can moderate a group chat. How? When a chat owner selects Moderated Chat as the chat type, only an administrator has the ability to accept or delete messages.

Messages from non-admin users will not appear in the group chat unless they are approved by an admin. As a result, spammers and trolls are less likely to send messages.

This chat type is ideal for online events, speaker-to-audience events, large conferences, and other similar occasions. Administrators moderate the chat rooms.

Administrators are the head of the community

3 ways to use polls for feedback

Polls are a great way to find out how your attendees are enjoying an event, their thoughts on the topic, what they would like to see improved about a product, feedback, and more.

You can request that your participants vote on your poll for a portion of their time. Because the poll already has pre-written responses, they can select one of the four and submit their response. It will only take a minute, if not seconds.

If they need to elaborate on their response, they can message you privately. Alternatively, if the information isn’t too sensitive, they can simply send it to the chat room.

Here are 3 ways on how polls can help gather feedback you need for your product or service.

Leave feedback anonymously

In order to maintain anonymity, admins can create polls in the chat room. When a community member votes, other members and administrators have no way of knowing who voted for that answer. As a result, all responses will be completely anonymous.

Polls are visible in the chat settings. To make one, select Create new poll. Fill in the blanks with a question and four answers. Click Send if you want to send it to the chat room. After everyone has cast their votes, click Publish so that everyone can see the results.

Ask the audience what they want

As the ones who support your product or service, your community wants to share their input. As an admin, you can organize a session wherein members can share their comments and suggestions.

For this, you can use the group chat and let your members know that you’ll be hosting an open mic kind of event. Everyone can send messages. Even if it’s positive or negative feedback, your customers can leave any comment.

As the head of the community, you can take this information and use it for future product developments and service improvement.

Collecting the gathered feedback

When you publish the poll, the responses will be visible to everyone in the chat room. You can view all of your participants’ responses in the chat room or admin panel for future reference.

polls

Follow these steps to view the data.

  1. Navigate to your admin panel.
  2. Go to Settings > Polls.
  3. Choose View Answers.

You can now see the responses of the participants. This will be done anonymously. Therefore, names are still kept anonymous, and only the answers will be made public.

How to create a poll

Polls are one of the most common ways to gather feedback. To collect feedback from logged-in customers, a company/brand can post polls in the group chat.

Polls are typically brief and not time-consuming. Customers will only choose from the options because there are already pre-made answers.

RumbleTalk makes it simple to create a poll. Here are the steps you need to take.

  1. Create a RumbleTalk account.
  2. Click Settings > Polls in your admin panel.
  3. Choose Create new poll.
  4. Add a question and four pre-made answers from which your customers can choose.

It’s really that simple! You can also start a poll right in the group chat. Simply click the gear icon (chat settings) and then Polls. Then, repeat the preceding steps.

Taking advantage of polls

polls

Polls can be useful for a variety of purposes. For example, they can be used in surveys, post-event feedback, data collection for future topics and discussions, and so on.

Chat polls are another excellent way to engage your audience. They can use this opportunity to speak up if they have anything to say about their vote. This is done via private messages or group chat, whichever is more convenient for them.

In this article, we’ve shown you how you can feedback from your clients through polls. So, where will you use polls next?

Following that, you can select one of the RumbleTalk chat types. All of which are equipped with powerful engagement tools that have been carefully selected for you and your clients’ benefit.

what chat
  • Social Chat — A public group chat that is designed for communities and open discussions.
  • Expert’s Chat — This acts as a virtual consultation space. It is an ideal setting for experts (such as healthcare practitioners, lawyers, fitness gurus, advisors, etc) to meet with a client in private.
  • Member’s Chat — Only members who are already logged in to your website will be able to join the conversation. This should be used in closed private group chat discussions. You can also include a log-in page to limit the chat to your members only.
  • Moderated Chat — Assign a moderator to manage the group chat and perform functions such as screening inbound messages before they go live, banning or disconnecting specific users, limiting users, exporting transcripts, and more.
  • Private Chat — A type of chat in which users can communicate with other users on one-on-one conversations. Use this for private discussions and networking without the distractions of a group chat.

Because your purpose for the chat may vary depending on the event, you are free to change the chat type at any time based on what you currently require.

3. Personalize your chat room

private chat

It’s simple to start with one of our pre-made designs to make your chat room more personalized. There are also numerous customization options available such as CSS. You can customize the colors of your group chat room and add your own logo or icon. Why not post a welcome message for your audience if you really want your event to stand out?

This immediately engages them and encourages them to stay for a longer period of time. It’s important that everyone understands how they can participate and assist other users. If they enter a chat room with no one there, then that’s going to be a big letdown.

In the Advanced Design tab of your admin panel, we provide a quick editor for simple point-and-click customization of the web group chat. Take your time here to explore the various designs and personalization options.

4. Invite others to your chat

RumbleTalk makes it easy to find people to chat with. Invite business partners, patients, job fair candidates, and clients using only their smartphones. By including a QR code on your digital invitations, they can instantly access your chat. With just a scan, you can redirect anyone to your chat log-in page. With this chat feature, you can say adios to long lines!

Simply click on the gear icon. Then, select QR to generate your chat’s unique QR code.
