New Feature: Page Password

If you’re a RumbleTalk user, you must be already familiar with Rumble Pages, our minisite equivalent. We’ve upgraded your experience so that every page can be added with a password.

Since it’s a page password, this only applies to Rumble Pages. Therefore, it won’t work on your chats or any other feature.

Let’s start exploring the new feature!

Adding a page password

Currently, there are two ways to add a password for your page. These are the following:

  • Setting
  • Changing

Firstly, when you haven’t published your page yet, you can set a password when you click the gear button at the top right.

This gear button serves as the page settings. You can also see here your reserved page’s name, the publish button, and the logout button.

password

So, your password must be between 6 and 50 characters and cannot contain commas. Any user opening your published page will be required to type it before they can access your page.

password

Secondly, when your page is already published, you can then change its password. To change your page’s password, follow the steps above.

Before, it was Set password. After publishing, it became Change password.

password

When changing your password, it will also give you an option to unset the current one. If you click on it, it will revert the page to its original state. This means that anyone with your page link can immediately enter it.

Upgraded privacy and security

pages

Now that you’ve added a page password, want to see how it looks like?

When you visit your published page, it will now ask for a password. Besides asking a password, it will also ask you to complete a CAPTCHA.

This is for added security so that no one will be able to bypass the page or leave spam on your page. Also, it can check if the other party accessing it is a real person, just like for other websites.

Since this is a page that might have private information, we’ve added this as a new feature to protect our users’ privacy. Let us know if you want more features added for Rumble Pages via our Twitter and Facebook pages.

InChatPay and PayConnect: Monetize your Group Chat

With RumbleTalk, you can easily monetize your group chat. InChatPay and PayConnect are two features that will help you do that.

Online donations, payments, and paid membership are trends right now. While creating a group chat is easy, managing those is another topic. It’s another task in itself.

Well, let us help you with that. InChatPay and PayConnect can make monetization easier. By using RumbleTalk, you can connect your PayPal account in one click. Then, you can proceed to set up your monetized group chat in just a few minutes.

Let’s talk about donations and private payments first. Then, let’s talk about membership fees and limited access.

All about donations and private payments

Now that almost everything can be done online, donations and private payments are a part of that. Taking it to the next step, you can easily collect donations and private payments in a group chat.

So, how can you do that? The answer lies in InChatPay. Over here at RumbleTalk, we call that as InChatPay.

InChatPay covers all donations and private payments. Churches and non-profit organizations can use the group chat to collect donations.

donations

You can put your cause in the group chat as a welcome message or just a normal message.

For small businesses or entrepreneurs, you can use private payment requests to collect payments from your customers. The private payment request is only accessible in the private chat. Also, the admin needs to send a request before a user can pay.

Unlike donations, private payments have transaction fees. RumbleTalk keeps 10% of the commission, while you get 90%. Not a bad deal, right?

Access and membership fees

What do you do when you want to add access and membership fees? You use PayConnect. PayConnect is used for access and membership fees.

Firstly, you can add an access fee to let a user enter the group chat for a specific time. The time limit can be from minutes to weeks. This is limited paid access for chat members.

Next, membership fees are unlimited access to your chat members. It’s a special subscription for your members to have unlimited access to your group chat. If you choose this kind of PayConnect for your members, you can choose from monthly or annual membership.

When you monetize your group chat, you can add your chat terms and conditions. There are two choices:

  • Terms text – You fully declare the terms before the users can enter your group chat. It will be shown on the payment popup.
  • Terms link – You put a link where your terms and conditions can be found.

Members should always agree to the terms before entering the chat.

Once that’s all set up, you can check any payment that’s made on your chat. It will all be labeled on Monetize Records that you can find on your admin panel.

Records of any payment are shown. It will show the following:

  1. Date
  2. Payer
  3. Amount
  4. Status (new, paid, and refunded)
  5. Country
  6. Type

Here’s an example of how your records will look like when your members have paid.

Top Chat Features to Use for eLearning Courses and Sessions

In the past few months, we have witnessed a rapid shift in eLearning. This made us think about how we used technology for the educational sector.

The online behavior of students is different from who they are in their classrooms. How will you use this shift to your advantage?

As an educator or parent, you’ve seen how technology has played its role as we shift to eLearning tools for a child’s education. Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, they all have contributed to education as they transformed the students’ way of communication.

Now that we’ve seen what those apps can do, it’s triggered a shift in the methods of traditional learning to a modernized one.

So, how can you make the same impact in times like these?

How can a chat be effective for eLearning sessions?

As we all know, chat platforms have been around for quite some time now. They are now gaining more attention since educators are thinking of ways how they can incorporate technology in their classrooms.

While a chat can provide real-time communication, it can also start discussions that can help in a deeper understanding of the course. With the different features of a chat platform, it can create an interactive learning experience just like in a traditional classroom setting.

eLearning websites and platforms are great examples of how chat platforms can be advantageous to eLearning sessions. They create a virtual classroom where teachers and students can connect globally.

What are the different chat features to use?

In the naked eye, it might seem that chat platforms are just your normal messaging apps. However, there’s more to it than that. Through updates and modern technology, chat platforms have created new features.

Let’s dive deeper and understand these key features that will help you in eLearning sessions.

Bridging the gap using the basics

Group chat is a basic feature of a chat platform. You basically chat with an entire group and there’s no moderating happening.

Using group chats can be helpful for group discussions. In every class, students should also be able to connect with their various groups. Therefore, teachers can create open group chats where anyone can join.

Audio and video calls are also basic features of chat platforms. For this, you can use the private chat on your group chat. Teachers can do one-on-one calls with any student in the group chat.

File sharing for a complete classroom experience

Without textbooks, what can be an alternative? Fortunately, ebooks are now a thing. You can send an ebook, document, or PDF through file sharing.

If that’s not enough, you can also share copies of the class curriculum via PowerPoint. With this feature, teachers can send images, audio/video recordings, or any usual file in the chat room. As a result, review materials are made easily available for your students to access.

Managing user roles

Why do you need role-based access to your group chat? The implementation of user roles is to distinguish who’s to be the admins and the members.

For example, in a virtual classroom, it’s obvious that the teacher should have administrative rights. While this is true, the teacher can also assign other students to be an admin, preferably the class president or a class representative.

The administrators can make sure that the chat is in an orderly fashion. Also, this is to ensure that the correct information is delegated and used efficiently.

Using educational links

Did you notice the underlined keywords in the example photo above? That’s what happens when you add InText Keywords in your chat.

InText keywords are words or phrases that will show in real-time during a chat as a dashed hyperlink. When clicked, users will be taken to the set URL in a new tab. This is a highly effective way to direct users to relevant content, docs, files, or links.

For this instance, it’s used as an educational link where the words ‘SVA agreement‘ lead to a link that students can use as a review material.

eLearning chat + YouTube Live

Have you thought of this combination? If you think that a group chat is not sufficient for your eLearning session, then you could add YouTube Live in the mix.

By creating a minisite via Rumble Pages, you can achieve a leveled-up connection.

Using a chat for eLearning sessions

A one-to-all technique is not effective for eLearning. You have to diversify and adapt to the newer generation.

Instead of just using one feature for all your eLearning courses, try mixing it up by combining the above features. For example, you can try using a group chat for one group and a moderated chat for the other.

See what works best for each group.
