Why is my RumbleTalk group chat not loading properly?

TIP TIP

The most frequent problems you encounter are usually connected to the type of browser you are using or the security settings in your browser.

Here are a few possible reasons why your group chat may not be loading properly:

  • Some special/outdated browsers may experience problems when loading RumbleTalk. Try using the latest common browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge (do not use Chromium beta will result in an issue).
  • In some cases, you may be behind a firewall/gateway that interferes with your group chat access. To fix this, speak with your IT department or system administrator. The solution is to white-list the rumbletalk.com and rumbletalk.net domains in the firewall settings. Make sure ports 80 and 443 are open for those domains.
  • JavaScript/3rd party cookies may not be enabled in your browser. Check your browser’s settings to make sure JavaScript is enabled.
  • VPN services (proxy) like NordVpn often disconnect long connections. Please check without a VPN to make sure this is not the issue.
  • Many open connections. When one pc has more than 12 long browser connections (12 tabs with chat open, or sometimes even 10), the Chrome engine can disconnect some connections to reserve resources.
  • Mac and beta browsers – in various older versions of Safari, explorer, and new beta versions of Chromium, we see disconnects that can occur without any known reason.
  • Gateway setting “McAfee Web Gateway”. It seems that some enterprise firewalls/gateways with packet inspection have built-in disconnection rules with LongPolling and WebSockets (port 80, 443) (mainly: SophosXG Firewall, WatchGuard, McAfee Web Gateway).
